Are Tempurpedic Pillows Overpriced?
Do Tempurpedic pillows really cost that much more compared to other memory foam pillows? And are they worth it? A direct price comparison chart may help you make up your mind.
Tempur-pedic pillows can cost as much as three times more than other memory foam pillows (see chart below). So why do people buy a Tempurpedic pillow? Some buyers cite the quality of the Tempur brand, it's relative lack of odor and it's durability. Others only got them because they were part of a package deal when they purchased their mattress.
The most important thing about purchasing a memory foam pillow is to try it out at the store! There is no trial period on these pillows and they are non-returnable. The 3 year limited warranty is EXTREMELY limited.
Tempurpedic has 10 different types of pillows. But for simplicity we're only going to evaluate the contour Neck Pillow and the ComfortPillow with comparable models from other brands.
Different brands of memory foam pillow have different sizes, thicknesses and shapes. To make direct price comparisons easy, look at the cost per cubic inch for each pillow in the chart below. The depth of all pillows were measured at their greatest height when in a flat position.
